Our commitment
Learning Through Theatre is committed to respecting human rights and to preventing modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking in our business and in the organisations and individuals with whom we work.
Learning Through Theatre has a zero-tolerance approach to slavery, forced labour and human trafficking.
About Learning Through Theatre
Learning Through Theatre is a sole-trader business operated by Cheryl Stapleton, providing theatre education, training, workshops, coaching and related creative services.
From time to time, Learning Through Theatre engages freelance theatre practitioners, actors and other specialist professionals on a self-employed basis to support the delivery of its work.
Learning Through Theatre also works with a small number of external suppliers and service providers.
As a small sole-trader business, Learning Through Theatre does not fall within the statutory requirement under Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 to publish an annual modern slavery statement. This policy is maintained voluntarily as part of our commitment to responsible and ethical working practices.
Our approach
Learning Through Theatre will:
treat freelancers, collaborators, suppliers and other people we work with fairly and with dignity and respect;
agree the nature and terms of work clearly before work begins;
pay freelancers and other contractors according to agreed terms;
not knowingly engage anyone who is subject to forced or compulsory labour or human trafficking;
not knowingly work with suppliers or organisations that use forced labour or exploitative practices;
consider ethical employment practices when engaging new freelancers, contractors or significant suppliers; and
take concerns about possible exploitation seriously and respond appropriately.
Given the small scale and nature of Learning Through Theatre’s activities, we consider the overall risk of modern slavery within our direct operations to be low. We nevertheless recognise that exploitation can occur in businesses and supply chains of all sizes and remain alert to potential concerns.
Raising a concern
Anyone working with or for Learning Through Theatre who has a concern about possible modern slavery, forced labour or human trafficking should raise the concern with:

Concerns will be treated seriously and, wherever possible, sensitively and confidentially.
Where appropriate, Learning Through Theatre will seek relevant professional advice or report concerns to the appropriate authorities.
Review
This policy will be reviewed annually, or sooner if there is a significant change to the nature of Learning Through Theatre’s work.
