Health & Safety Statement
Learning Through Theatre (LTT) is committed to providing safe, inclusive and appropriately managed activities for children, young people and adults.
Our speech and language coaching, drama and physical theatre workshops involve movement and vocal activity, so sessions are planned with appropriate warm-ups, clear safety instructions and suitable adaptations for individual needs. Participants are encouraged to work within their own physical and vocal limits, with activities modified or stopped where necessary. Reasonable adjustments can be made for injury, disability, medical conditions, sensory needs or other access requirements.
For workshops involving physical contact, props, masks or more demanding physical activity, specific safety procedures are applied and activities are supervised appropriately. Participants are not required to undertake activities that cause pain or discomfort, and physical contact is subject to clear boundaries and consent.
For performances in schools and other venues, LTT works with the host venue to identify relevant hazards, emergency procedures, access arrangements and any specific requirements. Our performances use minimal set and equipment, with sound only and no lighting rig or stage cabling supplied by LTT. Props and performance equipment are checked before use and staging is adapted to the available space.
For work with children and young people, the relevant school or host organisation retains responsibility for its own premises, emergency procedures and pupil medical arrangements, and appropriate school/host staff remain present during sessions.
LTT maintains £10 million Public Liability Insurance and undertakes activity-specific risk assessments where appropriate.
